Professionally, my health and wellness journey began 39 years ago when I became a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA). As an Occupational Therapy professional, I specialized in neurological and orthopedic injuries like spinal cord injuries, head injuries and repetitive motion injuries. OT’s help people get their physical function back as well as modify their daily activities so they can live life to the fullest again.
Later, after attending many therapeutic bodywork courses, I recognized the need to add more massage techniques to my treatment sessions and eventually earned my certification and licensure in Massage Therapy. For the last 15 years I have worked on collegiate athletes at the University of Texas as well as professional athletes and active adults (both ambulatory and in wheelchairs). In January of 2024, I joined the medical staff for the Philadelphia 76ers, working with the athletes as a soft tissue therapist.
8 years ago I completed an intensive 10 month certification on nutritional therapy as I feel optimal nutrition is foundational to pain free living. The bonus to becoming a Nutritional Therapist was that I finally figured out why I struggled with bloating and gas since I was a teen. That was a game changer for me, because let’s face it, digestive issues are embarrasing and uncomfortable.
So I’m this weird mix of bodywork, rehabilitation, lifestyle hacks, pain management and nutritional therapy.
My strong background in anatomy, musculoskeletal injuries, neurological conditions, nutrition and assessment skills as well as my love to educate others, bolstered my desire to provide courses and resources to help you with natural healing techniques, pain free living, and improving digestion in order to empower you to be your own best health advocate and wellness coach.
